Founded on Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday in 1986, the Harlem Gospel Choir lifts spirits worldwide with messages of hope, faith, and inspiration. With powerful, angelic voices (belonging to members ranging in age from 17 to 70), the 65-member choir enlightens audiences about African-American culture while raising funds for children’s charities. The choir’s impressive list of collaborators includes U2, Lyle Lovett, Diana Ross, Simple Minds, Brooks & Dunn, the Chieftains, and, um, Jessica Simpson.
