The bodies of a woman and her boyfriend were discovered in a Northside San Antonio apartment on Wednesday, days after their death. Police believe that 37-year-old Johnny Eoff shot himself in the head with the shotgun found lying beside him, but it remains unclear how 26-year-old Marian Baltran died.

According to mySA, the unit manager notified police after other residents had called about a noxious smell coming from the couple's apartment. San Antonio police arrived around 3 p.m. to the Indigo Apartments between Wurzbach Pkwy and West Ave, but were unable to get inside the unit. Firefighters were called to pry open the couple's door which had been reinforced with rebar.

Police found Eoff and Baltran inside the entryway, as well as drugs and drug paraphernalia around the apartment. Detectives are still investigating the case and asking whether drugs might have caused Baltran's death, or played any other role in the incident. Police did not find any fatal wounds on her body.

According to the Bexar County District Clerk's Office, Eoff was charged with four different crimes on March 4. Those include a felony for unlawful possession of a firearm, theft of the firearm, and two counts of drug possession with the intent to deliver. Exactly what kind of drug Eoff was carrying is unknown.

In a statement made to mySA, apartment neighbor Ilene Garza said that she and her husband were unaware of any suspicious activity. “Everybody knows everybody here,” said Garza. “It’s so bizarre.”
