Big news from the pages of the Huffington Post: the publication listed San Antonio as a “secretly cool city” earlier this week.

The list made a splash on San Antonio social media accounts, and City of San Antonio staff to trumpeted it in a news release.

The article also ticks off Jacksonville, Baltimore, Sacramento and Albuquerque as cities “where you can still get in on the ground floor.” Its rationale for including San Antonio is exactly what you’d expect: The Pearl, the King William District, the Mission Reach and development downtown.

A compliment is always nice, but San Antonians already know their city is cool. And if not cool, then at least secure enough in the city's collective lameness to feel cool to one another.

But it’s also worth noting that this is one list by one guy, so let’s not get too worked up about it. These fairly arbitrary, readily clickable lists are the currency of the Internet these days. It’s neat that this exists, but maybe let’s wait to declare victory.

In any case, if SA keeps showing up on lists like this, perhaps Charlie Pride will finally get an answer to his question:
