Three months after warning customers that the location was struggling, San Antonio Jewish diner chain The Hayden revealed in an Instagram post that its restaurant in the North Side’s Alon Town Centre has closed.
Tuesday was the last day of operation for the Hayden’s location at 10003 NW Military Hwy #2115, owner Adam Lampinstein confirmed to the Express-News.
However, the chain’s original location at 4025 Broadway isn’t going away anytime soon, Lampinstein said on Instagram, noting that the store will extend its business hours and also update its menu and catering options. Both of the chain’s locations mix Jewish deli fare with American diner favorites and a full bar.
“This community welcomed us with open arms, and we’ll never forget all the regulars who made our days brighter and reminded us why we get out of bed in the morning,” Lampinstein wrote of the Alon restaurant, which opened a little more than two years ago.
In a February newsletter to customers, Lampinstein cautioned that the Alon location was struggling and encouraged those who valued the spot to continue visiting. He later clarified in comments to the Current that the store wasn’t in imminent danger of closure.
In this week’s Instagram post, Lampinstein added that he’s still working on ideas for “what’s next for that beautiful space” at Alon.
“This business ain’t easy, but sharing our love of Jewish Deli [and] American Diner food with y’all made it all worth it,” he wrote.
