If you totally felt when the woman outside the bar in the Selena movie said, "queremos bailar!" then you're not alone. Whether you're all about two-stepping, salsa or club music, here's some solid spots for when you just want to shake your moneymaker.

At the bottom of the St. Mary’s Strip you’ll find the revered Hi-Tones. As a spot known for pickle shots, it should come at no surprise that this is a spot for you to shake your ass. A live music bar, this beloved club brings a variet of acts – from rockabilly and punk to Latin fusion. Whether you start here or end up here, Hi-Tones is a dancing spot not to be missed.

Shenanygans II

Though not the biggest dance floor, drinkers over at this Westover Hills-area watering hole pack it in on the weekends. Cool off with a game of pool or out on the patio, but be sure to bump and grind on the dance floor – especially on the weekends.

HEAT Nightclub

Though you might enjoy watching other people dance (especially during drag shows), shaking your ass over at HEAT makes for a hella fun night on the Main Strip. A staple in the LGBTQ nightlife scene, HEAT keeps it stylish with multiple bars, DJs, a video lounge and a patio. Think of the drink specials as the cherry on top.

Cowboys Dancehall

For all things country and the occasional Tejano band, Cowboys is the place to be if you’re 1) in college or 2) love two-stepping. You can even take dance lessons here if you’d like, but no matter what you’re familiarity, you’re bound to have fun all night long.

Cooter Brown’s Saloon

If you’ve yet to visit Cooter Brown’s, this Helotes spot is worth the drive if you want to dance but want something slightly more laid-back. Western-themed decorations pair with the massive dance floor, which lets you enjoy nightly entertainment.

John T. Floore’s Country Store

A (quick) drive out to Helotes is well-worth a few hours of dancing at Floore’s. Packed with plenty of history, this honky-tonk is perfect for true country lovers that care more about the music than the dancing. But, it’s still hell of a spot for showing off your moves. There’s also a barbecue cafe and bar, so hanging here is time well-spent.

Gruene Hall

Sure, this one is a bit more of a drive, being in New Braunfels and all, but it is also an institution in its own right. Take a daytrip to this hub of German culture and be amazed by the beauty of this 19th century dance hall. Expect a mixture of country, Americana and blues to be blasting, and be prepared to dance the night away.

Brass Monkey

If you have yet to hit up Brass Monkey, what is you doing?! Serious, for a hella fun night that’ll have you feeling necio/a, go out to this prize St. Mary’s Strip spot and drop it like it’s hot to some throwback tunes. The drink specials will have you feeling good, so go on with ya bad self.

The Well

Expect a big college crowd (it’s in UTSA’s backyard), but if you don’t mind you’ll get to enjoy Southern fare, a full bar and dancing in the evenings. With a space for dancing in and outside (this place is huge!), you can hang out here all night and be living the good life.

Arjons International Club

With all types of Latin music at the helm – from salsa and merengue to cumbia and bachata – there’s plenty of types of beats for you to shake your hips to. But if you’re a little bit ratchet, you’re especially bound to love this place.

Babio’s Night Club

Perfect for a girls’ night out, Babio’s is all about living your best life and dancing the night away to prove it. A favorite in the LGBTQ community, complete with drag shows, this ritzy bar has decor that’ll have you feeling like you’re in Manhattan sipping on a Cosmopolitan. With catchy music, decent drink specials and the posh aesthetic, this might just be your new spot if it isn’t already.

Sexy vibes can be found at Luna, which brings in a variety of live music, from Americana to funk. Perfect for a date night, this dimly-lit drinking spot is cozy enough to post up for the night with cocktails to sip on between bouts of bumping and grinding.

Wax Club Lounge

With dance parties for pretty much any type of event, you can bet on Wax Club being the place to go when you want to move your hips. Whether you want to dance from beginning to end, or need to take some breaks and end up people-watching, Wax Club all but guarantees a fun night out on the town. This San Pedro lounge is open to everyone, but be warned that the sexy dress code is enforced.

You’ve heard all of the radio ads for Ivory Lounge. Most San Antonians either love or hate this place. All we’re gonna say is that this is a place to dance. The owner will most definitely clapback at you if you leave a bad review online. But if all you care about is dancing and having cheap drinks, you’re good at Ivory Lounge.
