The most-anticipated new bars and restaurants coming to the San Antonio area in 2024

A wealth of new dining and drinking options are set to open in the San Antonio area this year.

They include concepts from Alamo City entrepreneurs, expansions of local mainstays and additions to the area food scene from outside Texas. They also run the gamut from Dia de Los Muertos-themed dining to a new rock bar to a spot serving up Wagyu-beef burgers.

These 20 bars and restaurants are expected to open in and around San Antonio in the coming months, providing ample opportunities for hungry foodies to try something new.

Casa Catrina

A new, Dia De Los Muertos-themed restaurant is slated to take over the space that formerly housed The Fig Tree at La Villita. According to a post on the San Antonio Riverwalk’s Facebook page, the restaurant’s menu will feature  “authentic, unique and shareable Mexican dishes.”

Arizona-based chain Hash Kitchen appears to be making its way into San Antonio this year. According to filings with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, two locations of the restaurant are planned for 5534 N. 1604 West and 4108 Broadway, the latter of which is the former location of a Jim’s Restaurant that closed in March. The chain serves breakfast and brunch, as well as a full bar serving a variety of cocktails and Bloody Mary bars with 50 topping options.

The chain serves breakfast and brunch, as well as a full bar serving a variety of cocktails and Bloody Mary bars with 50 topping options.

San Antonio brunch and pastry chain La Panadería announced an expansion with multiple new stores slated to open this year. New locations are planned for Stone Oak at 1011 N. Loop 1604 East, on the Broadway corridor in the former Fratello’s space at 2503 Broadway and inside the La Cantera Shopping Center.

The chain, which formerly operated three locations in the area, teased the new location in March with footage of construction. The new pub is expected to open in the next few months, and will offer menu items including bangers and mash, cottage pie, and fish and chips.
