San Antonio-area estate with an on-site Hobbit house just got a $400,000 price cut

The Texas Hill Country may not resemble the lush and green Shire of Middle Earth, but you’ll still find a house inspired by The Hobbit on the this Kerr County property that underwent a recent price markdown.

The property was recently relisted at $1.844 million after not selling at the $2.25 million its owners first asked in November 2022.

The main home is a multi-story, 3,800-square-foot log cabin near Center Point. The 68-acre property includes the 12-acres home site that can be purchased separately from the surrounding raw land.

However, the truly unique feature is an unfinished Hobbit house built into the hillside that would make Frodo or Bilbo Baggins feel right at home. Featuring the round doorways and other touches from fantasy writer J.R.R. Tolkein’s imagination, the guest house is wired and plumbed for a bathroom and kitchen from which to serve “second breakfast.”

The owners include a book editor and fan of Tolkien’s tales who convinced her husband to build the Hobbit house by telling him it was build the whimsical house for little people or an on-site castle.
