This 1938 San Antonio home comes with a rare basement — and views of Woodlawn Lake

A 1938 home overlooking Woodlawn Lake hit the market last month for $525,000, and it's got more than just a pretty brick facade going for it.

The four-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bath property boasts a rare-for-San Antonio basement along with a Baroque-looking ceiling painting of eight women radiating from the counterpoint above the living room chandelier. The unusual mural is believed to date back to the home's original construction, according to the listing agent.

Beyond those features, the property boasts both a second-floor balcony and an expansive front porch outfitted with Redondo tile. Both outdoor spaces overlook Woodlawn Lake Park, offering views of its palm trees and namesake body of water. Although the interior could use some updates and repairs, it features hardwood floors throughout. Distinctive archways provide passage between the living areas.

The 3,300-square-foot residence was built for Angelo Zottarelli, an Italian immigrant who died in 1958, and has only had one other owner since then, according to the agent. A family trust listed the property for sale toward the end of March.

This house is listed by Wayne Ramirez with Compass RE Texas.
