This restored 1910 San Antonio mansion for sale was once owned by the family behind Frost Bank

A fully restored 1910 home that once belonged to San Antonio's influential Frost family and also served as a Montessori school hit the market this week at just under $2 million, according to its listing agent.

Situated in the Monte Vista Historic District, the 8,600-square-foot home served a residence for families the including the one of Frost Bank fame until it was transformed into Ratliff Electronics School in the 1950s, then the Kriterion Montessori School in 1969, newspaper archives show. It was last purchased in 2013 by Breakaway Property Holdings, according to county records.

The five-bedroom, four-bathroom structure has since been returned to its residential grandeur thanks to a major reno. Photos of the home reveal a grand high-ceilinged foyer, a tiled sun room, a massive formal dining room and a bar overlooking its nearly one acre of grounds.

The third floor has been renovated into a game room and entertainment area, according to the sales listing, and an on-site carriage house includes two bedrooms, two baths and a fully equipped kitchen.

The listing touts the home as suitable for either a family or an investor looking to operate an Airbnb or bed and breakfast. Since it was reconfigured to operate as a school, the property includes 20 parking spaces, "making it ideal for hosting large events," the listing notes.
