Selma / Schertz Salute to Service Members 5K Walk, Run, Roll

The annual Selma/Schertz Salute to Service Members 5K Walk, Run, Roll on Feb. 24 at Blue Bonnet Palace benefits Veteran nonprofit Operation Comfort (OC). OC provides adaptive programs for disabled Veterans and those transitioning out. Registration categories include: Walk/Run, Recumbent/Handcycle/Race Chair, Youth (ages 12-17), Virtual 5K, Manual Chair, Motorize Chair, Adaptive Ambulatory. Onsite activities include a Kids Activity area, Silent Auction, Vendors. Event Sponsors are Gunn Auto Group and Blue Bonnet Palace. Sponsorship and Vendor opportunities are available and silent auction items needed. All monies raised go to OC. Email [email protected] to receive forms or ask questions.

Located at Broadway and Hildebrand, this iconic San Antonio restaurant was enjoyed by generations for its fried chicken, pies, breakfasts and other comfort food. It opened in 1933 but was displaced in 2006 by the construction of a luxury condo tower. New owners kept the SA favorite going in two new locations but finally threw in the towel last year due to post-pandemic pressures.
