Hopefully, you've gotten a chance to see what the San Antonio River looks like when it's drained because it should be back to normal this afternoon.

The Transportation & Capital Improvements Department and the Center City Development Office started draining the River Walk January 3, including the main channel and river loop from Josephine Street to Alamo Street.

The goal was to refill the river by Saturday morning, but they are ahead of schedule.

During the draining, the San Antonio River Authority worked on the Brooklyn Street lock and dam.

“The crest gate at the lock and dam was repaired as needed. We are happy that the river will be filled in time for the Army All-American Bowl visitors this weekend to enjoy,” Kristen Hansen, SARA’s Watershed Parks and Operations Manager, says in a press release.
