Buying Super Bowl air time is a pricey proposition. Fortune reported that a 30-second ad could run as much as $5 million for the space between this year's game (which, as you likely know, is much more plentiful than actual game play).

So deciding what angle to take with the ad is high-stakes game. Do you try to be funny? Do you pull some heartstrings? Do you produce some cryptic nonsense to make folks rush to the Google machine?

H-E-B chose a safe route: Appeal to Texans' love of all things Texas.
