Take Note Youth Band Auditions

SPONSORED -- Teen musicians, ages 13 to 18, who are interested in being part of the Parks and Recreation Department’s award-winning Take Note Youth Band should begin preparing their audition CD or DVD now. The Take Note Youth Band is specifically tailored for aspiring musicians and singers who have a desire to make a career in the music industry. The band includes vocalists, keyboardists, bassists, drummers, percussionists and saxophonists. Those chosen from a live audition will be introduced to concepts needed to perform a variety of musical styles such as pop, rock, jazz and blues in preparation for live performances throughout the city, including BRAVO and the San Antonio Rock-n-Roll Marathon. To take advantage of this opportunity, musicians should submit an audition package which includes a DVD or CD of them playing instruments, demonstrating singing ability as well as stage presence; along with a letter explaining how they can add to and benefit from participation in the band and an optional photo. Full application requirements can be found at www.sanantonio.gov/parksandrec. Entries must be dropped off or mailed by September 16, 2016 to Parks and Recreation Cultural Programs; Attention: Take Note; Ron Darner Parks and Recreation Headquarters; 5800 Enrique M. Barrera Parkway; San Antonio, Texas 78227. Hours for dropping off an entry are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. For more information visit www.sanantonio.gov/parksandrec/music_classes.aspx, or call 207-3132.
