Update, 2:24 p.m.: A spokesperson for the Shops at Rivercenter says after consulting with tenants Friday, the opening has been pushed back until early 2016 after the holiday rush so the businesses can adequately stock shelves and train employees. Original story continues below:

After three long years, the Historic Joske's Building at Rivercenter Mall in Downtown will open December 17 under a new name: Shops at Rivercenter.

After an intense renovation and restoration process, the Shops at Rivercenter Mall will "eventually feature 50 new retail and restaurant establishments, with major new tenants including a two-story Texas Flagship H&M, Texas Flagship Dave & Buster's, AMC 11 Theatre with IMAX, Battle for Texas: The Experience, Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville, Yardhouse and Johnny Rockets, along with several quick dining options."

“The historical Joske’s building has been an icon in Alamo Plaza for well over a decade, and we were committed to working with San Antonio’s HDRC in keeping the historical architecture intact,” Chris Oviatt, general manager of Shops at Rivercenter, says in a press release. “The new name and rebranding of the mall goes hand in hand with its reinvention — classic, while modern and fresh, and synonymous with the revitalization of the space.”

The renovation included "completely gutting the interior of the Joske's building and restoring the beautifully historic exterior facade."

Several stores will be ready for business December 17, and Dave & Buster's, H&M, Margaritaville, Yardhouse and Battle for Texas: The Experience will open in early 2016.

A press release claims the openings will bring more than 500 jobs to Downtown.
