It's not enough to sit back on your biscuit slanging shade at The Donald. Whether you hate Drumpf due to his blatant racism, his grandstanding following the attack in Orlando, or because he's the epitome of the privileged white male, any reason is a good one to attend Xanklah Productions' sign-making party at La Botánica before the protest of Trump's appearance in San Antonio.
Entitled Don't Come 2 Texas Vol. 1, the event will start at 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 16 and will feature live music from Laura Molinar, Polly Anna, Saakred and Puppy Butt, with some 200 posters provided for decoration. After the massacre at a gay nightclub in Orlando that resulted in some 50 deaths, the organizers say they hope the event will also function as a safe space for reflection, community building and remembrance.
As recently reported, Trump is scheduled to appear at the Oak Hills Country Club on Friday, June 17. Entry to the event starts at $500 and a $250,000 "Champion's Circle" donation will net donors 10 tickets to the luncheon as well as a meet-and-greet and photo opportunity with the presumptive GOP candidate and owner of the most elaborate toupee since the days of powdered wigs – no big deal to anyone whose father gives them a "small loan of $1 million."
According to the "Dump Trump San Antonio!" Facebook page, the Southwest Workers Union (SWU) will also host an organizational meeting regarding Friday's protest at their headquarters (1416 E. Commerce St.), starting at 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 16.
