After Tuesday night’s 97 - 137 drubbing at the hands of the Portland Trail Blazers, let’s hope the San Antonio Spurs give up 40 point losses for Lent and beyond.
Granted, the final score doesn’t properly supply the game’s complete context - Tim and Tony resting for the second night of a back-to-back, Manu (left oblique) and Tiago (right calf) sidelined for at least the next two weeks.
Tomorrow’s matchup against the Denver Nuggets marks the ninth and final game of the 2012 Rodeo Road Trip, which has propelled the Spurs to second place in the Western Conference standings, winning 8 of their last 9 road games and 11 of their last 12 overall.
A much-needed homecoming fit with five-day respite begins Friday as the NBA prepares for the 61st NBA All-Star Game Weekend festivities in Orlando, Florida.
Tony Parker and Kawhi Leonard will be the only Spurs members making the trip to actively participate in the weekend’s festivities. Originally, Tiago Splitter was slated to play on Charles Barkley’s team in the BBVA Rising Stars Challenge, but was forced to withdraw due to a strained right calf suffered during Saturday’s dramatic overtime win over the Los Angeles Clippers.
