Stay Current with the Pick of the Day: Reik

Reik

Spelled so Spanish speakers pronounce it “rake” (as in the guitar technique), Latin pop-rockers Reik emerged from the Mexican underground club scene in 2003 and have gone on to drop a platinum-selling debut, sign with Sony, and earn a Latin Grammy for their 2008 album Un Día Más. Hailing from Baja California, the band (Gilberto “Bibi” Marín on electric guitar, Julio Ramírez Eguía on acoustic guitar, and Jesús Alberto Navarro Rojas on vocals) is possibly best known stateside for the enduring hit “Inolvidable.” The trio plays Club Rio in support of Peligro, their fourth studio album. $35-$45; doors at 9pm; Club Rio, 13307-A San Pedro, (210) 403-2582, club-rio.net.
