Earl Abel's Will Open New Broadway Location Soon

Earl Abel's tentative date for reopening at their new home off Broadway, October 15, came and went. And while it may have been naive to share an opening date while trying to move clear across town into the former Timbo's (updating the old spot, adding new menu items, dealing with read tape), management has shared an update on when you'll be able to enjoy their fried chicken again.

Per the update shared by the San Antonio institution on Facebook on Tuesday afternoon, the restaurant is getting close to opening. "Earl Abel’s Restaurant remains closed at our new location at 1639 Broadway St. due to unexpected delays in permitting. However, all permitting issues have now been resolved. Therefore, we are making progress towards an opening date, which we will be posting soon."

Per the Express-News Mike Sutter, the 2,800-square-foot restaurant will ditch waitresses found in traditional diners for fast-casual ordering and runners. New menu items are being added, but the meatloaf, pot roast, turkey pot pie are dunzo.
