Art opening: Two to Tango: Linear

Critic's Pick Release Date: 2010-09-08

At Hausmann Millworks this weekend, abstract painter Louis Vega Treviño will show his unique brand of handcrafted yet minimalist-inspired color field works, some in conventional canvas rectangles, others on panels joined together in hexagons suggesting a target for meditative focus. He’s showing alongside new paintings by Kim Bishop, whose surreal meta-landscapes fairly pulse with saturated color, often managing to make a visual statement of the phases of her own life, and the changing seasons of womens’ lives, as a meteorological manifestation. Sound odd, and maybe mismatched? Well, the true experience of Vega Treviño’s and Bishop’s work is an in-person thing, so take your person to the millworks on Friday night. Two to Tango: Linear - Louis Vega Trevino and Kim Bishop, Hausmann Millworks, Opening reception Fri, Sept. 10, 6-9pm, 925 Russell Place
