Clip'd Beaks w. Queer Tears & more

Release Date: 2007-12-05

Slinky Cali terrorizers Clipd Beaks have caught a fresh buzz since November, following the release of their full-length debut, Hoarse Lords, put out by Lovepump United. The band’s wall of noise hits with max force, wrapping a sound that’s turned up to 11 with dreamy effects and psychedelic swirls. Abandoning the guitar-based format of previous endeavors, their thick sound is defined by analog synth drones, propulsive beats, and layered vocals, in which noise, static, and distortion are essential parts of the equation. The flock’s been around since 2003, but bassist Scott Ecklein and drummer Ray Benjamin have been playing together since their pre-teen years, quite possibly explaining the complex, cemented patterns. Call for price, 9pm, Rock Bottom, 1033 Ave. B, (210) 320-2387.
