The Austin-based Americana quintet is actually a band of three soloists who happen to be a hell of a singer-songwriter team. The songs and harmonies of Colin Brooks, Ed Jurdi, and Gordy Quist, with the precise backbone of Seth Whitney and John Chipman, aren’t revolutionary, but the musicianship and tasteful arrangements keep the edge of bluesy Southern country rock alive in a fresh way. This year has been good for BOH: In September they released their strong second studio album (the must-have One Foot in the Ether), and on November 7 they shared the spotlight with Elvis Costello at the taping of the Austin City Limits TV show. “It was the highlight of my career so far,” said Brooks. Just wait. If you guys keep writing and singing and playing like this, you ain’t seen nothing yet. $10, 8pm, Wed, Dec 30, Gruene Hall, 1281 Gruene Rd., New Braunfels,
