The good, the bad, and the drooly

Ruler: A tip of the crown to Blake Peery, the new manager at San Antonio's historic Fairmount Hotel. Peery has entered into a partnership with Finesilver Gallery to fill the walls of the Fairmount with actual art - not the usual visual apologies that hotels are famous for. Peery assures us the project will feature San Antonio artists, an idea whose time has surely come. The city is full of gifted artists who lack venues and access to buyers from out of town. The tiny Fairmount, with only 34 rooms and one of the city's better restaurants, has the kind of tony clientele that can afford to collect.

Drooler: What would Jesus throw?
Last week, a Current reporter had the misfortune of driving behind a man in a teal green Nissan truck - with an American flag decal stuck on his back window and a cross hanging from the rear-view mirror - who swigged the last drop of soda from his can, crunched the container in his hand, and then blithely tossed it onto West Ashby Street.
Littering is un-American and Jesus wouldn't be too hip to it, either.
