A 2-year-old girl was run over by a car on the Southeast Side of San Antonio on Monday night.  She remains in critical condition.

Police told News4SanAntonio that the girl was playing outside in the street around 7:30 p.m. when a car going down Hicks Avenue ran her over. Authorities also said the car fled the scene.

A neighbor saw the incident and told the girl's parents what happened. The parents, who were inside the home at the time, told police that they're used to their kids going in and out of the house. The neighbor was unable to provide a description of the driver or the vehicle.

The girl is currently recovering at University Hospital. There's no further detail regarding her injuries at this time.
