This one's for the kiddos: a birthday dinner at the Magic Time Machine is a fantasy-filled land of bubbling concoctions delivered by costume-clad servers dressed as popular Disney characters, superheroes and sci-fi favorites. For adults, this can be a truly frightful and insufferable experience. But beyond menu mainstays like the Roman Orgy (billed as a "conglomerate roast feast"), the mazelike space warrants at least one visit — especially if it's just for a couple of no-nonsense cocktails in the kitschy confines of the adults-only Mine Shaft Saloon or an evening of stand-up in the basement-level Blind Tiger Comedy Club. 902 NE Loop 410, (210) 828-1470, magictimemachine.com
