Ghetto Prom is the collaboration of acoustic-'em-up hip-hop artist Chris Conde and SA's own chanteuse for your caboose and Sugar Skulls' frontwoman Alyson Alonzo. As Diamond Daggerz and Lando ZoZo – their respective alter egos – the duo aim to create "a project that would be loud and obnoxious but also as a way to join forces and audiences" and shake up the typically straight, male-dominated sphere of hip-hop. For the video, the two have teamed up with House of Kenzo, a dance group unifying '90s vogue with modern hip-hop steps, to spread some queer holiday cheer in the form of this, their first single, "Get It."
Fans of asses and the moving of them, bearded men with incredible beards and incredible drag makeup skills, Soul Train lines, and hooks that contain a bittersweetness like sandpaper on the heart, brace yourself. Just as the track gets up and running the beat falls out from under you, like the rainbow road level on Mario Kart 64. Then shit really pops off.
The official single release of the track will be held at 10pm tonight (Thursday) on the KRTU 90.1 FM "Live and Local" show with Jeanette Muniz. Below is the digital debut of the video!
