If watching bicep-bulging men and women smash each other’s faces into a chain-link fence sounds like your idea of an entertaining weekend night out, you’re in for a treat. “Hell in a Cell,” one of World Wrestling Entertainment’s (WWE) 14 pay-per-view live events this year, is making its way to San Antonio for the first time in the event’s decade-long history.
The last WWE PPV event the Alamo City hosted was the Royal Rumble last year at the Alamodome when Randy Orton won the 30-man Royal Rumble match by eliminating Roman Reigns. This year, Reigns is back (and on the poster, no less, as a menacing demon) alongside his challenger Braun Strowman for the WWE Universal Championship.
Other matches on the card include AJ Styles vs. Samoa Joe for the WWE Championship and Jeff Hardy vs. Randy Orton. Former MMA champion Ronda Rousey, who is now a full-fledged professional wrestler with the WWE, will put her Raw Women’s Championship belt on the line when she takes on Alexa Bliss, who she steamrolled only a month ago at SummerSlam.
$27-$417, Sun Sept 16, 5:30pm, AT&T Center, One AT&T Center Pkwy., (210) 444-5140, attcenter.com.
