CPS Energy's GrillsGiving Returns to San Antonio

GrillsGiving: Ribs, Brisket, Chicken…oh, yes!

“And when my life is through, bury me in barbecue,” YouTube entertainers, Rhett & Link, hit the nail on the head with The BBQ Song. That may seem a little overzealous, but the fact of the matter is, we take BBQ seriously in Texas. From the sizzle of the grill to the sizzle of your Alka-seltzer®, it’s an experience a whole family can enjoy. That’s what makes the 4th Annual GrillsGiving the place to be on Saturday, November 17, 12 – 6 p.m. This competitive BBQ challenge at Mission County Park showcases the best brisket, ribs and chicken in Texas. Musical acts, Guy Forsyth, The Powell Brothers and Smoke Wagon will serve as the perfect BBQ indulging soundtrack.

Worried all your kids, especially that middle child, will hold you back from the fun? Shake off that worry because there are activities for the entire family with free admission for kids 12 and under, and complimentary parking for all. Experience over 30 pit masters as they grill savory BBQ and side dishes for the People’s Choice Awards – which you get to vote for!

Yes, all of this is deliciously good fun. But don’t forget what GrillsGiving is all about. It’s about coming together to support our fellow families in the community. Net proceeds from the event benefit the Residential Energy Assistance Partnership (REAP) fund, which provides financial utility assistance for CPS Energy customers in need.

Isn’t it fantastic to visualize yourself eating brisket, then hitting the dancefloor, then eating some chicken, then hitting the dancefloor, then eating some ribs, then hitting the dancefloor, all while supporting neighbors in need? So, before you prepare for Thanksgiving, purchase your fare for a pilgrimage to GrillsGiving. You can even wear one of those funny pilgrim hats if you want to.
