He might be taking over the old Leon (8123 Broadway) space, technically, but Kaufman, the owner of Flynn's, is hoping to revive the old Rev Room feel within Flynn's. Kaufman will utilize the space much like Rev Room did before Leon. The front room or pub (though no food will be served) will feature live music, most often cover bands with a penchant for what he calls "radio rock," while the backroom will be the End of the Line Club for the dance-inclined set.
The main patio will expand on the concept put in by Leon owners by adding a full bar and TVs. Kaufman, who also owns Retox, hopes Flynn's new neighbor (a craft beer bar that will replace Rev Room Sports) and Salud will help in terms of customers the bar attracts. Even though the bar is still in its build-out phase, Kaufman renting the space as a private venue. Most recently, Flynn's hosted the Six-Pack Club of San Antonio this past Friday. Flynn's will open 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. daily; (210) 901-8883 for rental information.
