SA's Best Restaurants as Picked by Redditors

Last week, we brought you just a few of the city's worst restaurants according to reddit users. Let's start the week off by being positive. Thanks to OldDickLemon for creating the thread. Here's a sampling of restaurants SA Redditors love:

My bests:

Burger- Cured. Get the triple, let the grease drip down your arm, and savor every bite.

Italian- Il Sogno

Brunch- Wish I could pick just one. I've had amazing brunches here. Feast, Boiler House, and Fruiteria come to mind. (I'm gonna come out and say it- Magnolia Pancake House is not worth the wait)

Outside Dining- The Luxury and The Cove

Pizza- Florio's, Barbaro

Breakfast Tacos- Original Donut Shop

I wish I had a favorite Food Truck. I haven't had anything that's blown me away yet. Still need to try Rickshaw Stop and Say She Ate, though.mollysimmons73

My favorites:

Thai Dee, Pho Kim Long, Main street Pizza, Dough, Bigz, The Monterey, Osaka sushi, Augies BBQ, Texas de BrazilOldDickLemon

Try Guillermo's for pizza and pasta. They are just north of down town. Great patio and bar, and good Italian American food. No delivery, but you can have a beer on the patio while you wait.–glasnostic

Serious up vote for Augie's. I work just up St Mary's at the Zoo, and a combo pulled pork/jalapeño sausage sandwich with a double side of their FANTASTIC green beans is a pay day regular.–retro_70s

Los Robertos, Guajillos, Armadillos, Taqueria Aguas Calientes, Taqueria Data Point, Bite Bistro, Bigz, Panchitos, Sapporo, Pasha, Scuzzis.–Rob_Ross

Mexican seafood - El Siete Mares.-Danbal1

Restaurant Gwendolyn and Kimura hands down.–TheWiseDevil

Local places I like to get food from are-

Wrigleyville, All Aboard Deli, Teka Molino, Thai Dee, Florio's, Gorditas Dona Tota Authentic, Chicago's Pizza, Dough, El Milagrito, Augie's, El Charro, W.D. Deli, Olgitas Molino, Guero's Taco Diner, Tycoon Flat's. I just have to add this, I miss the chili cheese fries they made in the '90s, though. The new ones are close but not the same. They're still really good and you should try them out if you haven't.

That's all I can think of right now.

edit: Damn, I like a lot of pizza, sandwiches and tacos.–Thats_Puffin_Talk

There is a lot...

For burgers- Big Bob's or RD's or Candies

For Mediterranean- Zorba's

For Indian- India Oven

For BBQ- Two Bros

And that seems to be it for me, obviously I eat too many hamburgers.–deadtex

Magnolia pancake Haus: if you get there when the wait isn't that bad, it's heaven for your tastebuds. However, it is really hard to get there without the wait. The location by Heubner and Resesrch is much better as far as the wait goes.–idiotimmortal

Dumplings via Tang Street

Authentic Chinese:

281: Tang St (http://tangst.com/) - be sure to order from the Chinese menu

NW Military: Sichuan Cuisine (http://sichuansa.com/) - more spicy stuff

Bandera: Kim Wah (http://www.kimwah.com/KimWah/index.htm) - been around forever; across from Tim's market

West & Blanco: Phoenix - Cantonese style–tangman

So much to choose from! - Il Sogno, go to nice evening out (Italian / $$$) - burgers: Cove, Lords, Madrids, Armadillos, Longhorn - Indian: Barwarchi Biryani Point - Chinese: Mencius, Sichuan - Med/Greek: Jereusulm Grill, Mina/Dimis, Turquoise - brunch: Feast - sushi: godai, goros, Kai ... Just realized that my go-to list can go on forever.–alamoney

For Fancy - Chama Gaucha; For Indian - Taste of India; Pizza - Maar's Pizza; Thai - Thai Cafe or Thai Dee; Seafood - Dry Dock; Turkish - Turquoise Grill; Mexican Food - undecided; Burgers - The Cove (their Bison burger is insane but could do without their crazy parking situation)–nonexist71

A lot of my favorite foods are food trucks, Lagniappe Today, Rocker Dawgs(Thai kick boxer is one of the best hotdogs I've had in SA), Takoriya .

Nao has a good burger on their late night menu

Pho Thien Ahn–vell_0

Any one of the 4 fajita taco place restaurants–TheBrownKnight210

Bacon cheeseburger via Fattboy Burgers.

Fattboy, Florio's, Magnolia Pancake Haus, Taqueria Datapoint, Jacala, Dough–ForIvadell

Taqueria Datapoint (everyone seems to agree.) Demos for Mediterranean Guajillos for some cold Margaritas and incredible salsa. Taipei on West and NW Military (Stone Oak one is gross) Fralos for a great pizza and date night. Sarikas on Medical and Fredricksburg for some heavenly Pad Thai.

And my underrated pick, Finlys Chick-N-Rib near UTSA. Friendly staff, overloaded me with fries, and the meat was cooked very well.–mrbungle821

Thai chili on Thousand Oaks has the best pad thai I've ever had–tadmau5

Green Vegetarian Cusine... the one at Alon though.–bacaowismyhero

Spicy ginger, picnikins, Ricky's taco truck, bigz, nichas for the guilty pleasure–nirnosub

Pho Kim Long's banh mi.

Bobby J'a for burgers

Chatman's Chicken for fried chicken, Big BBQ, Yum Thai, Ms Ellie's Pizza, Tommy's Tacos–kgool

Don Pedro's is a decent Mexican place on the south side. Purple Garlic, casual Italian place off Austin Hwy. El Jalisco De Gallito, dirty little whole in the wall Mexican place in the Med Center.

Wasabi, awesome rolls and fantastic happy hour. Chabas, decent little Thai place also on the south side.–allthatkills

  • Fogo de Chao (Brazillian Steakhouse)
  • Mangolia Pancake Haus (breakfast)
  • Taqueria Chapala Jalisco (Mexican)
  • Pho Kim Long (Pho)
  • Burger Boy (Burgers)
  • Main Street Pizza
  • SA Pops (Dessert/Ice Cream)–youre_a_smellypirate

Yaya's, India Palace (I'm a sucker for buffets), Pasha, and Szechuan.–horyo
