Though Southerleigh Fine Food and Brewery's oyster bar is still a ways away, the restaurant and microbrewery are trying out new goodies.

A frosé is already on the menu, but a recent creation will be exclusive to the outdoor oyster bar that faces the Bottling Department Food Hall. The Southerleigh house punch, an ode to Southern punches ideal for pounding on a patio, is now available in a reusable plastic pouch.

"We offer it in our camp cups, but wanted to try an alternative option for the oyster bar," said chef-owner Jeff Balfour. The fourth-generation Galvestonian says the oyster bar's feel will be reminiscent of the bait shops he grew up around.

The punch is currently made up of red wine, Fresca, a raspberry or strawberry puree, pineapple, orange juice and finished with a squeeze lime and lemon along with a handful of fresh berries and citrus garnishes.

The pouches offer a sturdy alternative that's also nostalgic to nineties kids who sucked on Capri Sun back in the day. The 14-ounce pouch is available now for $6.50 a pop and they're already a hit.

"We prepared 200 of them for the last Soundcream Session and ran out within an hour and a half," said general manager Philippe Place, who helped created the punch.
