ACOSTED

When Will Smith categorically listed everything dope about Miami in his song of the same title, he left out
George Acosta's Miami trance.

someone synonymous with South Beach: trance DJ George Acosta. In the late '90s, Acosta translated the smooth grooves of epic European trance into his own signature sound. He has since been a staple at Miami's annual Winter Music Conference, a convergence of international dance music industry types and enthusiasts.

Acosta was scheduled to perform in San Antonio last December, but cancelled at the last minute, leaving a bunch of embittered kids holding $10 tickets to a comparitively disappointing showcase of regional DJs at Far West Rodeo. Acosta is slated for another Far West appearance on Sunday, March 16, touring behind his recent release, Touched. Maybe he'll actually make this one. If not, at least the supporting lineup is solid, featuring the excellent Kid Icarus, as well as local DJs BOSS, Shawn Jackson, Synthetic, and DJ Xpand.

And might I suggest going to Miami to actually see the guy if he doesn't show up this time. •
