In Ovo frontman Scott Wisecarver sings like he just caught his vocal chords sleeping with his fiancée. Guitarists Joshua Stetz and Colin Varville gang up to bully your eardrums. Galen Miller alternates between the Woody Woodpecker school of drumming and simply attempting to bludgeon his kit into submission. “Holding It Down” is pure S&M metal, so you have to assume In Ovo doesn’t mean the expression in the amiable old-school-hip-hop sense. If In Ovo’s holding anything down, it’s probably a kitten in a bathtub full of battery acid.
