Crown, steadily climbing up

You know these guys: The Grasshopper Lies Heavy is a local institution, Lonely Horse arguably the hottest SA band this year and Bright Like the Sun responsible for one of the most acclaimed albums of 2013 (Coda Fin). You may not know Crown, the newest of the bunch. I saw them open for Molotov at the Korova, and this psychedelic bluesy power trio nearly stole the show. Not enough to come to Boneshakers on Saturday? Move on to the next paragraph.

This showcase will feature what Current readers consider to be the best bassist in San Antonio (yes, I know all the winners of our recent Music Awards poll , but you’ll have to wait until our annual Music Awards issue on October 2 … Ha-ha!). And you know what? I don’t disagree with them. If you come, you should be able to figure out why he won. Easily. Hands down.
