Rare is the newsworthy abandoned fish, much less an abandoned Plecostomus — a South American suckerfish that eats algae, and looks like a beast from another time.
But today, Animal Care Services found just that. The 2-foot-long fish was found in an abandoned apartment on the Southeast Side, with a dead fish inside the tank, too. Five dogs and three cats were also found in the home.
ACS has taken custody of the animals, and the case has been referred to the department's cruelty investigators.
