The San Antonio Current is looking for several interns to join our editorial team.
As a Current intern there's no fetching coffee or making copies. Our interns spend their time doing meaningful work: pitching story ideas, researching, writing and building multimedia elements for our website. Some interns have also successfully pitched and written stories for our weekly print publication.
Editorial Interns:
You will be expected to produce relevant, engaging San Antonio news and commentary on a daily basis, as well as pitch and produce several slideshows per week. This position allows candidates to cover a range of local topics, including coverage of news, arts, food, music and our calendar.
A journalism or communications background and experience writing for a website always helps, as do copy-editing and multimedia skills. But we encourage anyone with a keen curiosity and strong writing skills to apply.
Submit a brief introduction, a resume and two published clips to [email protected] with the subject Blogging Intern. Interviews will be held on a rolling basis. Applicants who are enrolled in school and are able to receive academic credit are preferred, as this is an unpaid internship. We offer flexible schedules, and interns may start immediately.
Editorial Design Interns:
This is the perfect place for new designers to learn about art direction/graphic design, develop their portfolio, network with industry professionals, and develop new skills that they will carry with them throughout their career. You must demonstrate strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills. We accept applications year-round, but our positions fill quickly. This is an unpaid internship.
Required Skills:
- Proficiency in Adobe software, especially Photoshop and InDesign
- Excellent writing & verbal communication skills
- Great work ethic and time management skills
To apply, please send a resume, and portfolio pieces to Sarah Flood-Baumann at [email protected]
