San Marcos police say a former criminal justice student at Texas State University is responsible for a string of sexual assaults in the college town.

On Tuesday, police arrested Tyshane Vris Thomas after a community member reportedly found a BB gun modified to appear like a real gun, a black hooded sweatshirt, a black mask as well as women's clothing inside a bag at an apartment complex. Police didn't have to work hard to identify who the backpack belonged to, since Thomas' name was written in marker inside.

According to Texas State's campus newspaper the University Star, Thomas closely matched the description of the suspect. When authorities brought him into custody and interviewed him for five hours, he allegedly confessed to the three sexual assault crimes and a burglary, all of which took place between April 24 and May 2.

Thomas has been charged with aggravated sexual assault and is currently being held in Hays County Jail. His bail has been set at $750,000. As of now, he has only been charged in the first assault, though police said additional charges will be handed down. Authorities said the 20-year-old man attended Texas State last semester and was studying criminal justice.
