With a back catalog of quintessential songs like “Papa Was a Rollin’ Stone,” “Ball of Confusion (That’s What the World Is Today),” “Get Ready,” “I’m Gonna Make You Love Me” (with female counterparts the Supremes), and “Just My Imagination (Running Away with Me),” the Temptations concert this Sunday will undoubtedly take listeners of a certain age on a soulful journey down memory lane. Don’t be surprised, however, if Motown’s golden children (they won the label its first Grammy with 1968’s “Cloud Nine”) break out in an unfamiliar tune or two — fronted by Otis Williams (the only living original member), the Temptations haven’t stopped making music and released their 47th album this year — humorously titled Still Here. Dabbling in a variety of musical genres seems to have helped these well-dressed crooners stay relevant through a groovy Sly and the Family Stone-inspired Psychedelic Soul period, and more recently an adult-contemporary-meets-R-’n’-B chapter, of which 2000’s Grammy-winning Ear-Resistable is the perfect example. This year, the Temptations are celebrating the 45th anniversary of their first number-one single, “My Girl,” which — according to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, at least — is among the 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll. $35-$75, 7:30pm, The Majestic Theatre, 224 E.
