Here's one more story to kick around this afternoon.

Developers today broke ground on a $6.2 million, state-of-the-art soccer complex north of Grissom Road.

Dubbed Soccer Central, the site will include an 82,000-square-foot indoor/outdoor training facility, a pro shop and 15 fields allowing nine different types of soccer play. In addition, the complex will house classrooms, a cafe and European-style training machines to sharpen athletes' skills.

"This is a great opportunity for all the San Antonio youth," said Raul Orduna, facility director for Soccer Central. "We are very proud and excited to bring
such a state of the art facility to the city. Soccer Central will mark the start of a new era for soccer development in South Texas and beyond.”

Soccer Central, located at 6610 Low Bid Lane, is expected to open by June.
