Comedia Comida

If you grew up on Saturday Night Live you know that sketch comedy has its ups and downs. Coming up with new material and keeping a solid cast week after week is an enormous task and it’s amazing the show has been able to keep it up all these years. Now imagine trying to do roughly the same thing every month while juggling families, jobs, bills, and all the other distractions that come with just living life. I doubt the show would have survived past Joe Piscopo (I had to add him to Microsoft Words Dictionary). This is the creative drive that is Comedia a Go-Go, San Antono’s longest running sketch comedy group. Every month for a year they have written and produced their own monthly show, mixing live sketches with filmed shorts to great success. The majority of their material is raw and crude, but they have the unique ability to be intelligent about it. More importantly it’s funny. This Thursday will be their final performance of the season at Laugh Out Loud Comedy Club. They will be taking a short break to finish their eagerly awaited feature film and develop material for their next season. Show starts at 10pm and if you join them on Facebook you will be privy to a discount off of admission.
