Exclusive: Action Superstar Arnold Schwarzenegger Accepts His Invitation to Alamo City Comic Con

As pleased as attendees have been with the celebrity guests that Alamo City Comic Con (ACCC) has brought to San Antonio over the last few years, the 2018 edition of the convention (October 26-28) has just taken things to a whole new level.

Earlier this afternoon, ACCC officially announced that action superstar and former Governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger has accepted his invitation to make an appearance at this year’s event. According to ACCC founder and CEO Apple de la Fuente, this will be Schwarzenegger’s first-ever comic convention where he will interact with fans to give autographs and pose for photos. He will be at ACCC on Saturday, October 27.

“This is the Holy Grail of comic con guests,” de la Fuente told the Current this morning. “We will have the No. 1 all-time action movie star here for ACCC.”

Schwarzenegger, of course, is known for his string of action films in the 1980s and '90s, including The Terminator, Predator, The Running Man, Total Recall, Terminator 2: Judgement Day and True Lies. After his eight-year stint as Governor of California from 2003 to 2011, Schwarzenegger returned to acting. Currently, he is shooting an untitled Terminator reboot, which reunites him with original heroine Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton). The film is scheduled to hit theaters in July 2019.
At ACCC, Schwarzenegger will join other celebrities already on the guest list, including John Cusack (Say Anything), William Shatner (Star Trek franchise), Neve Campbell (Scream franchise), Michael Rooker (Guardians of the Galaxy), Paul Reubens (Pee-wee’s Big Adventure) and many more.

In the last five years, ACCC has grown into one of the most attended comic cons in the U.S. While it doesn’t get the headlines that the comic con in San Diego does, securing Schwarzenegger should help ACCC build its brand and attract more big-name stars to San Antonio in the future.

On that note, what’s Scarlett Johansson doing next year?
