SAY Sí Production Napako: Our Journey Invites San Antonians to Explore City's Ancient Indigenous History

Napako: Our Journey is an original production from the students and instructors at SAY Sí, and featuring guest artists Ruby Nelda Perez, Andrea “Vocab” Sanderson, Angelo Salgado and Joaquin Eliseo Linn. It explores the long (read: true, actual and important) version of San Antonio’s roots.

Using movement and storytelling, Napako depicts and interprets a creation story from our city’s ancient indigenous history. The play looks specifically at the Blue Hole — the head of the San Antonio River and long an important practical and spiritual place — and one young man’s journey to discover its greatness when faced with its current dried-up state.

It’s a powerful production that calls all San Antonians to re-contextualize our sense of place and belonging in terms of our oldest shared mythologies, our intimate relationship to the natural resources of the area, and our common longings and fears.

$5, Sat Sept 22, 8pm, Confluence Park, 310 W. Mitchell St., (210) 212-8666, saysi.org.
