Kansas City’s Making Movies (a bilingual Latin alternative fusion band) has toured and collaborated with Pop Pistol in recent years, but their connection isn’t only musical: just like the San Antonio trio, Making Movies is all about sending good vibes to the community. Back home in August, MM launched M.U.S.I.C.A., a week-long summer camp to teach music to low-income, mostly immigrant kids. The band stops in Saytown presenting their brand new A la deriva (Adrift), which was produced by Los Lobos’ Steve Berlin. Club Rio is known for its salsa and rock en español shows, so it will be interesting to see Pop Pistol there as well, fresh off the glorious Animal Prisms album tour. The show will benefit Network for Young Artists (NYA), a local nonprofit teaching performing arts to kids ages 4-20. With Constante, a local rock en español band led by Pedro Constante. $5, 8pm Fri, Nov 30; Club Río, 13307-A San Pedro (281 & Bitters), (210) 403-2582, club-rio.net.
