First Course: New hours for Hot Joy and a second location for Kohinoor

Kohinoor (multiple locations) will temporarily close their Starcrest location to open a new location on Fredericksburg. The new location will be at 9425 Fredericksburg and will be open today Thursday, July 17. The Starcrest location will reopen on Tuesday, July 22. 

Hot Joy (1014 S Alamo) is now open seven days a week so you can get that ramen goodness any day. Hot Joy will now be open Monday through Sunday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Chamoy City Limits, the premier mobile for loaded piccadillies with house-made chamoy now has a hotline to call and find out their current location. The hotline at (210) 744-0000 will bring up a message telling you the current or next location on the truck and an option to leave a message.

How does pizza for lunch sound? SoBro Pizza Co. (1915 Broadway) is rolling out a new menu with “Little Bro” personal pizzas. Any regular sized pizza on the menu can be made into a little bro version. The new personal pizzas are a few dollars cheaper with the margherita, marinara and SoBro pepperoni being $8 to $9.

Chef Steve McHugh of Cured at Pearl (306 Pearl) will have a children’s cooking class Saturday, July 26 9 a.m. The class will be 30 minutes and feature fresh fruits and veggies from the Pearl Farmers Market. The class is for recommended ages 7-12 and $15 per child. Call (210) 314-2939 to reserve. All ticket proceeds will benefit Share our Strength’s No Kid Hungry Campaign.  

Sandy Oaks Olive Orchard (25195 Mathis, Elmendorf) is having a summer wine dinner on Friday, July 25 at 7 p.m. The five course meal will include crab croquette, house pulled mozzarella with cantaloupe and honey, local chicken ballotine, crispy skin redfish and almond crunchy bread pudding with wine pairings. Dinner is $50 per person. Call (210) 621-0044 to reserve a seat.

If you're busy on Friday, Chef Cooperative is having a fundraising event on Saturday, July 26 at the Fig Tree Restaurant (515 Villita) at 6:30 p.m. Chef Laurent Rae of the Fig Tree and Chef Paprocki will prepare a seven course Go Texas menu with wine, beer or spirit pairings. The event will benefit Parr Vineyards in Boerne and tickets are $98 per person.
