Vegan Stop Shop Returns to Brick with More Than 25 Vendors

This past November 1, also known as World Vegan Day, San Antonio vegans turned up en masse to the first ever Vegan Stop Shop organized by friends Raza Eats owner Melody Castillo and Cake Thieves owner Lauren O'Connor and Kiabeth Geronimo at Brick.

"We gathered a bunch of vendors together. We didn’t expect the turnout we had that day. Most of the food vendors sold out in an hour," Castillo said. Since then, the team has added lots more food vendors to the mix.

After two more pop-ups, one more successful than the next, the Vegan Stop Shop is back at Brick this Friday with more than 25 all-vegan vendors.

"I’ve always wanted to put together a vegan event for San Anto, you know,
to educate and spread the word about plant based lifestyles, get our vegan community together, and just share all the vegan goodness with everyone both vegan and non-vegan," said Castillo last December via Facebook.

To that end, the organizers have put together a lengthy list of purveyors focusing on vegan goods including with enchilada plates, mac, doughnuts and that's just from Castillo and O'Connor themselves. Expect to find comfort food via Let's Eatt; blue corn chip nachos topped with cashew queso, quinoa, black beans, corn and salsa from Local Veg; Italian subs and faux tuna sandwiches from Enlighten Veggie Foods; savory pastries from Sweet Nebula; cookies, cupcakes, and mini bundt cakes from Weezy's Treats; baked goods from Gopal's Gourmet Bakery; chili and Frito pies from Cheyza; raw pressed juice from the Famous Juice Co.; smoothies from Go Vegan San Antonio; gelato and sorbet from Paciugo; plant-based jerky from Snack Jack; raw lacto-fermented veggies from Happy Gut Foods; handcrafted body and beard car from Harmless; bath and beauty wares from Organically Inc.; indie skin care from The Granola Goat; art by Ana Bell Pepper; handmade gemstone and crystal jewelry from Ruby Rex; yogi gifts from SayOmSA; pizza, lasagna, muffins and more from Wholesome Eating; homemade cakes, cupcakes and cake pops from Crumby Cakes; mole poblano, pipian and Mexican hot chocolate from Hernan; and macaroons, sugar cookies and various breads from Cakes by Tatiana.

Housewares, accessories and apparel will also be available from vegan-owned The House House Co. and Higher Consciousness.

The event runs from 6 to 9 p.m. inside Brick at Blue Star.
