Kelli Mayo and Peyton Bighorse of Skating Polly

KRTU Indie Overnight premieres its free series tonight at Alamo Beer Company, beginning Indie Third Thursdays on a distorted and free footing. From the vibrant college town scene of Norman, Oklahoma, Skating Polly rips through elegantly simple, delightfully heavy riffs. The pair of Kelli Mayo and Peyton Bighorse trade off on guitar and bass duty, wavering between a destroyed drum and bass aesthetic and sloppy garage punk. But if you doubt their work as hiding behind the guise of punk, Skating Polly can slip into the gossamer piano-pop of “A Little Late.”

Rounding out the bill are Filthy and Blithe, two San Antonio acts with an insider's understanding of noise. Through a distorted loop of pedals, Filthy singer Leonard Guerra sounds only vaguely human, trapped on the dial between FM signals. Blithe’s inaugural EP False Sense of Entitlement reeks of anxiety, pounding over flickering dance-punk rhythms and tightly-wound guitar riffs. Free, 7pm-10pm, Alamo Beer Company, 415 Burnet
