Listening to Taylor Phelan’s newer work you’d wonder if Sam’s Burger Joint was moving away from their usual Americana/country/folk programming (which has been awesome for a long time).
While The Voice contestant’s early material was punctuated with more guitar-forward songs, Phelan’s new single “Settle Down” has a bit more of an electronic, Foster The People-type feel. And while his sound may be a hint more poppy, Phelan still manages to retain the same singer-songwriter texture to his music, making his take on electronic pop music, dynamic and smart.
