The big blue store will host a grand opening Wednesday, February 13. Customers can start lining up for the event at 5 a.m., though doors don't officially open until 9 a.m. Giveaways, entertainment and activities will all be part of the celebration.
The opening festivities also will include a traditional Scandinavian ceremony. Instead of cutting a ribbon, IKEA officials will saw a log.
Once doors open, fans will be able to explore the store's 50 room displays and three model home interiors. The 289,000-square-foot building will showcase more than 10,000 products.
But some will be more excited for the 359-seat restaurant, which includes a bistro, Swedish food market and staff cafeteria. The eatery, which features IKEA's prized Swedish meatballs, opens 30 minutes before the store (except on opening day).
IKEA must be expecting a big turnout. In addition to the store's 1,000 parking spaces, the grand opening will include overflow parking with shuttle service.
