Some holiday film events, for your pleasure

San Antonio will be the last stop on non-profit initiative Lights, Camera, Cure’s five-city juvenile diabetes-awareness tour. The interactive health fair will take place on Saturday, December 15 at 10 a.m. and culminate with a free screening of The Polar Express in 3D at the RiverCenter IMAX. Yippy!

Now I’m all for educating the masses by wooing them with cinema, but riddle me this: Are the kids in attendance going to be patted down for sugary snacks before passing through the IMAX gates? Because according to Lights, Camera, Cure’s press release, “More than 25 percent of Texas children between six and 18-years-old are overweight or obese, and about one in every 20 Texas children and adolescents is developing signs of diabetes.”

Now if that doesn’t exactly have you seizuring with joy, consider that Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner: The Final Cut will be playing at the Palladium for one week only, beginning December 7. Yes, all that Harrison Ford-y, Rutger Hauer-y goodness can be yours (not to mention Edward James Olmosness) again, all because it just turned 25. You’re welcome, Philip K. Dickheads.
