Pop-up restaurants are popular in Los Angeles and New York City. Chefs create makeshift restaurants with limited or fixed menus and open and close whenever they want. An offshoot of the pop-up restaurant is the pop-up dinner series, where guests buy tickets to attend and are informed of the location right before the dinner. The Special Project Social is bringing that concept to San Antonio. Artist Peter Zubiate and caterer Tim McDiarmid of Tim the Girl catering started the series earlier this year, and every month, they pick a new location to serve up to 40 guests in a special setting. Last month’s dinner at Zubiate’s home featured Italian beef stew with polenta, and farro with pecan pesto sauce. If you’re up for culinary adventure, the next gathering is on December 17. Buy tickets at thespecialprojectssocial.com.
If you’re looking for an equally special, but more traditional, dinner, Lüke is having a wine pairing on Tuesday, December 13. Serving a selection of Texas wines, the four-course dinner is $70 per person. You can buy tickets at 210-227-LUKE.
