There’s still time to surrender yourself to a 48-hour deluge of Heroes, season one, before season two premieres on Monday, September 24. I commenced my own personal recap a few weeks ago — and Lord knows I love the show — but even at that gingerly pace, if I hear “Save the cheerleader, save the world” once more … let’s just say the utterer of the phrase should brace for swift retribution. (Current employees and Heroes actors are exempt. You can’t help yourselves.)
Apparently Julie Taymor and Joe Roth came to an agreement about the final cut of her film, Across the Universe. According to the New York Times, Roth made his own, significantly shorter cut of The Beatles musical, sans Taymor’s agreement. However, the finished film, which blows into SA theaters next weekend, plays closer to her cut, says NYT. (Still, perhaps Roth and his Revolution Studios should take a leaf from Focus Features’ book and grant brilliant artists real ownership of their work.)
Back on the homefront, Knyph-Knaut Productions will be screening its debut film, a short, black-and-white, neo-noir, chock-full of local talent, titled The Theory of Everything at the Alamo Drafthouse on Tuesday, September 25 at 8:30 pm, free of charge. XO.
